The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA)
has launched the Phase II of the Electronic
Transition of Services Project, by offering
three vehicle related service online with
effect fromAugust 15th 2016. These services
are renewing vehicle registration card for
individuals, issuing vehicle registration card
in replacement of a lost one, and renewing
the retention of a licensing plate. These
services, which apply to vehicles of less than
three years in use, are accessible through
RTA website, Drivers & Vehicles app, and
self-service kiosks (Nafethati).
The launch of this phase follows the
successful completion of the initial phase of
the project launched last year targeting the
corporate sector, which resulted in pushing
the electronic transition to as much as %90.

August 15th. The services would be re-
routed to RTA portal
(www.rta.ae), the
smart app (Drivers & Vehicles) and the self-
service kiosks (Nafethati). The services to be
diverted are renewing vehicle registration
for individuals whose vehicles do not
require testing, issuing vehicle registration
card in replacement of a lost one, and
renewing number retention service. These
services are applicable to vehicles with less
than three years of age.”

The Ministry of Economy has banned the sale of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 in the local markets in cooperationwith Samsung
Int rnational Co which published a statemen for hree consecuti
ve days in the n wspapers based upo n agreement with
the Min stry warning the onsumers fromusing defect d devices. The Ministry confirmed that themarket is fully empty
fromdefected Samsung Note 7.
Samsung Co has offered three options in agreement with the Ministry of Economy and a fourth option has been activated
in both parties agreement. The first option is to replace the defected device by the same type, second option is to obtain
another device provided that the consumer shall incur the price difference, third option is to recover the paid sumof money
if so desired which some consumers have already done.
The fourth option is to obtain a new device to use temporarily till the arrival of new Samsung note 7 devices. The Ministry
of Economy also confirmed that it will inspect the new devices of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 type which will enter the local
markets as compensation for consumers defected devices which is estimated as 19 thousand devices.
Immediately after the arrival of the new devices to the country, they will be inspected before offered tomarkets in order
to check that they are free fromanymanufacture defects by the concerned authorities including Emirates Authority for
Standardization andMetrology EASM and Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council GCC.
Ban of switching on and charging
General Civil Aviation Authority GCAA has
banned switch on and charge of Samsung
Note 7 smartphones onboard of all national
airliners flights in addition to shipping these
devices in baggage.
Saif Mohamed Al Suwaidi , GCAA Director,
General said that the resolution provides that
switchingonorchargingof saidsmartphones
shall be banned at all national airliners flights
in theUnitedArabEmirates andshipping it in
the passenger baggage shall also be banned.
Following the general recall by Samsung Co
of its smartphones – Samsung Galaxy Note 7,
GCAA has taken a precautionary action and
temporarily banned the use or charge the
batteries of these devices at all flights till such
issue is repaired by the manufacturer.
Samsung Electronics Co has started to
withdrawNote7devicesfromthemarketsdue
toproblemin their batteries resulted in setting
fire in phones during and after charging.
Emirates Airline, Flydubai have announced in
their accounts in social media channels the
ban of use or charging of this device during
the flights. Emirates Airline announced that
it will immediately request its passengers not
to switch on or charge their smartphones
‘Samsung Galaxy Note 7” during flights or
store it in their baggage in order to avoid the
possibility of Note 7 batteries setting fire.
The company spokesman said in the
statement that it is taken based upon General
Civil Aviation Authority and confirmed this
action is taken to avoid the possibility that
Note 7 batteries cause fire. He also confirmed
that the passengers and aircraft cabin crew
safety is always the company first priority.
Major international airliners also banned
the use of Note 7 smartphones produced by
Samsung company after American Authority

in the battery. The biggest 3 international
airliners , i.e. American Airlines, Delta Airlines
, and United Airlines said their officers shall
request the passengers at gates and onboard
to keep their phones switched off until exit
from the aircraft.

withdrawn more than 2 million Galaxy Note
7 smartphones after many reports about
explosion of Note 7 batteries. The company
had announced the latest smartphone type
Galaxy Note 7 early of last August which has
received positive and satisfactory feedback.

Note 7 users all over the world indicated that
there are defects representing in explosion of
the batteries and burning of the device. This
